Creating a more bike friendly world

Turning everyday rides into real-world insights for planners

When people have safe, connected places to bike, communities thrive. They’re healthier, more active, less congested - and yes, safer. Cities with protected bike lanes see around 44% fewer traffic fatalities than average. At the same time, more people are choosing to ride - Garmin data shows global cycling activities rose 7% last year.

But to keep up with demand and build better biking infrastructure, cities need better and deeper data - and that’s where Love to Ride comes in.

The Missing Piece: Reliable Rider Feedback Data

The Missing Piece Reliable Rider Feedback Data

Good decisions need good data. But only a fraction of bike-related incidents ever get officially reported, leaving planners in the dark about where safety improvements are truly needed. That’s why transportation planners are increasingly turning to rider-sourced data: real experiences, mapped and shared by the people pedaling your streets.

📍 Where do people ride?
⚠️ Where do they feel unsafe?
☺️ Where do they enjoy riding?
🛠️ Where are the quick infrastructure wins?

These questions can now have answers - thanks to Love to Ride’s citizen science and our active community of civic riders.

Introducing Garmin Integration on Love to Ride

Introducing Garmin Integration on Love to Ride

We’re excited to share that Garmin is now integrated with Love to Ride. This means:

  • Garmin rides now feed directly into Love to Ride
Riders can connect once and automatically log their trips - no need to change how they record their rides.

  • From ride data to rider feedback
After syncing, riders are prompted to rate their routes - adding rich context to GPS data and revealing how safe and comfortable streets feel to real users.

  • Stronger insights, smarter decisions
Garmin integration broadens our data sources and empowers dedicated Garmin users to contribute directly to civic planning and safer streets.

Every GPS-tracked ride becomes a data point for positive change.

Garmin captures the ride; Love to Ride adds the rider’s perspective. Together, they turn consistent, high-quality trip data into powerful insights - enriched with comfort ratings, infrastructure feedback, and incident reports.

The result? A clearer picture of not just where people ride, but how they experience it - helping planners make smarter, more targeted decisions.

What We’re Seeing Already

In just the first few months:

  • 1,131 Garmin users synced their accounts
  • 28,391 rides uploaded
  • 424,850 km of cycling captured
  • 14 km average ride length
  • 135 km longest ride to date

That’s not just movement - it’s momentum. Every trip logged adds visibility into where people ride, how they feel about when navigating those areas, and where improvements could boost safety and comfort.

Why This Matters for Cities and Planners
