The Love to Ride Blog

Creating a more bike friendly world

At Love to Ride, we’re passionate about building cycling communities that welcome everyone and inspire more people to start enjoying the benefits of biking.

We recently had a chat with our client in Jersey, UK to learn how our program has impacted their community. Here's what they had to say about their journey with Love to Ride.

What has Love to Ride provided Jersey?

"Love to Ride provides us with a friendly platform and a way to monitor behavioural change."

Jersey has built a thriving cycling community using the Love to Ride platform. It’s become a space where riders of all levels can connect, and share their experiences, and their love for cycling.

What has Love to Ride helped you achieve?

"It’s allowed us to recognise and reward Islanders for their efforts in replacing vehicle trips with bike commutes. This has contributed significantly to our environmental goals."

Why Partner with Love to Ride?

"Love to Ride has saved us time and resources by providing a proven framework for success. Their data and insights have been invaluable in shaping our strategy and achieving our goals."

Reducing transportation emissions and fostering a cycling community has been the key goals for Jersey. Before implementing Love to Ride’s behaviour change program, they faced challenges such as low engagement among cyclists and a lack of tools to measure progress effectively. However, with Love to Ride, they’ve seen tangible results:

  • 4,473 people and 259 workplaces have joined Love to Ride and contributed to reducing single-use car journeys and transport emissions—key sources of 40% of Jersey’s total emissions. Over half of their trips are for transport, which has saved 187,332 kg of CO₂, equivalent to planting 7,492 trees.

  • Insights reveal that 75.86% of participants are motivated by health or fitness benefits, while 20.96% focus on living sustainably. These results shifted Jersey’s focus from emissions reduction to promoting fitness, mental health, and well-being.

Six months after taking part in Love to Ride:

  • 57% of 'new riders' reported they were riding once a week or more often
  • 69% of 'new riders' had ridden a bike to work at least once
  • Of those who did not ride for transport before signing up, 20% had ridden for transport at least once
  • 48% of respondents noted an increase in the number of days they were physically active

What excites you in the future with Love to Ride?

“Seeing people breaking down barriers, committing to the change and reaping the benefits.”
