Love to ride works with cities and employers all over the world to encourage more people to discover the joy of riding bicycles.
Working with Love to Ride gets more people riding bikes in your community - people who did not ride before, aka 'new riders' .
Together with our clients, we've now encouraged 176,186 'new riders' to start riding.
Below are a few stories from some 'new riders' that bring color to the data:
I used to ride my bicycle a lot when I was younger. While I was in college, my dad sold my bike. I never looked into buying another one until recently. I have a lot of friends who ride and they have been asking me to join. Long story short, I bought a bike and did a ride through Balboa this week. It was scary riding on shared roads, but I know with time I will get more confidence! Don’t know why I waited so long to get on a bike again. #bikelove

I had a hip replacement on 07/03/25 that is 11 weeks 1 day ago. Today I went out on my new bike and enjoyed it so much.
At Christmas I was on crutches and had been for over a year, I could barley walk and was living the life of an old lady.
Today I began to take my life back.

It's probably been over a decade since I've been on a bike, let alone ridden one regularly. I do remember how much I used to enjoy it when I was quite a bit younger though. Now that I am north of the five-zero, I thought it might be time to do some re-discovery. Not only am I enjoying waking up the parts of me needed to ride a bike, I am also enjoying the experience of discovering some local attractions that I didn't know about.

Thanks to the Love to Ride Florida Challenge I (and my coworkers) have been encouraged to start bicycling again - to/from work for those who can and also outside of work / during lunchtime.
I purchased a beach cruiser online and it arrived at my office today. My coworkers helped me put it together and I went on a lovely ride during my lunch break (4 coworkers went on lunch rides) and 3 other coworkers biked to work today.
Riding my bicycle was a wonderful way to get some fresh air, exercise, and take a mental break from staring at a computer. I haven't ridden a bicycle for a long time. I felt like a kid again and really enjoyed my first ride. I'm excited to start bicycling on a regular basis.
Thank you!

I used to ride my bike every day during 2020, when the roadways were quiet and the sun was shining. It was amazing seeing spiders flying overhead with silk parachutes and hearing birds singing - something you could never experience driving a car.
I got sick with coronavirus and lost the strength to cycle as often. And then when I was trying to get back into it again, I had a collision with an impatient motorist, who was waiting on a blind corner. Just as I was cycling past them and nearly out of their way, they revved their engine and knocked hard into my back wheel.
Lucky I wasn't hurt, just shocked, and confused - I couldn't understand why someone would try to scare me like that. It was impossible to tell what they were thinking. It put me off cycling for a while as I kept imagining that happening again.
I'm back on my bike this month thanks to Love to Ride, and while I'm still afraid to take longer trips, I don't want to be scared anymore. I don't find it easy to talk to others about the joys of cycling, but I will always try to talk to MOTORISTS about the effect they have on people when they drive aggressively! They're the ones that need to adjust their attitudes. If I hear someone complaining about cyclists then I want to call them out. Cyclists are not a threat.
I love the peace of nature and the roads across town in the evenings as the sun's setting. I don't want to miss a moment of it. It makes me feel free. I don't want anyone to stop me from enjoying it, and I hope we can build a world where nobody feels anxious about cycling.

We finally got the bike seat attached to the bike! Usually Blake and I just play at home while my husband goes for a run. Now that we have a bike seat- running/ biking is now a fun family activity. Blake just loved sitting in the seat and I could hear his giggles as we zoomed down the hills- wind in his tight curls. It was so nice being out as a family exercising together.
